Hey, Hi!!!
Welcome to my office, this is where the magic happens, I love being able to come to this computer and have 2 monitors to work on when I am developing websites.
Sometimes I’ll have some music videos playing in one of my screens; it is really nice to be able to have fun while you work.
The main reason I am posting “Behind the scenes” is because I really really like to be personable, I like people to be able to put a face to a name and to a product. I like to know who I am dealing with on a one to one basis. I like knowing there is an actual person creating the service or product that I want.
When I was creating this website, I did some research on web development and web design, and I found several very interesting things. The first one was that, there is a lot of people out there selling “cookie cutter” websites, for anywhere from $100 to $300. There is a problem with that though…
In this case you really get what you pay for, as a web developer I have learned that if you really want to make a website the way you really like, you do have to know code, you do have to know how to program “web stuff” and that takes time and effort, next thing you know, you are buying books, software, etc. so you can do what you really want with your website.
By the time you have spent countless hours of your valuable business time, money on more “web stuff” and a lot of sweat and tears in the process, in the end you have probably given up or ended up with just a mediocre website. I have been there in the past.
Another thing I found is that many web design companies, come in and try to jazz you up with all these complicated words like PHP, MySQL, AJAX, so on and so forth. By the time you have read their pitch you are either falling asleep or just thinking that this is too complex. These guys must know what they are doing.
But sometimes you will find that these developers are mostly computer oriented people, not BUSINESS oriented people. They will make a website, but will they think along your lines?, along what your business needs and wants?, not many times. And I tell you this from experience too.
I’ve had clients to which I recommend one thing or another suited to their particular business needs, (these people have dealt with other designers that are more computer oriented instead of business oriented) only to hear “Hey, web designer X never told me that was possible, I did not know that you could do that, that can really help my business”.
Anyways, the point that I am making here is that first and foremost whoever is going to build a website for you or better said a complete web strategy, has to be business savvy and have your best interests in mind.
Don’t be uncomfortable if you are asked very specific questions about what you do, how you do it, and why you do it.
If you are asked these questions and more before even discussing particulars about how your website looks, you will know that this guy means business and you will get a web strategy that can truly help your business.
I like doing this for my clients, I like growing with their business and their needs. I like getting into the nitty-gritty and being able to find how I can better improve their bottom lines, and basically aren’t we all in business for that?
